Red Bull is a nonalcoholic drink unique in its composition and effects.
- It provides the body with taurine, glucuronolactone and caffeine, plus
important vitamins and carbohydrates: a unique composition that had never
been tried before.
- Taurine is a conditionally essential amino acid, which naturally occurs in the
body. At times of extreme physical exertion, the body no longer produces the
required amounts of taurine, and a relative deficiency results. Taurine acts as
a metabolic transmitter and additionally has a detoxifying effect and
strengthens cardiac contractility.
- Glucuronolactone is a substance found in the body which accelerates the
elimination of both endogenic and exogenic noxae (harmful substances). So it
too has a detoxifying effect.
- Caffeine is known for its stimulating effect, clearly noted above all in the
circulatory system and in the brain. The caffeine content in a 250 ml can of
Red Bull is approximately that of a cup of filter coffee.
- Carbohydrates: As an energy source, Red Bull contains carbohydrates
almost exclusively in the form of sucrose and glucose. The energy value of a
can of Red Bull is 480 kj (112 kcal).
- Vitamins: The B-complex vitamins contained in Red Bull are essential for
maintaining normal bodily functions and play a vital role in maintaining physical
